✔️ Uses of Pentasa
Treats ulcerative colitis (a condition that causes inflammation, irritation, and ulcers in your digestive tract preferably the lining of your large intestine)
✔️ Dosage & Administration of Pentasa
Adults (Ulcerative Colitis)
- Active disease: Up to 4g per day, taken once daily or divided into 2–4 doses.
- Maintenance dose: 2g per day, taken once daily.
- Pediatrics (6 years and older)
- Active disease: 30–50 mg/kg/day in divided doses (max 4g/day).
- Maintenance dose: 15–30 mg/kg/day, not exceeding 2g/day.
Elderly Patients: Due to a higher risk of renal impairment, kidney function should be monitored during treatment.
Instructions for Use:
- Swallow tablets or capsules whole with water.
- Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets.
- Granules should not be chewed—empty them onto the tongue and wash them down with water or juice.
